UndocuTeacher's Symbol :
The Dandelion & Migration

“Although the monarch butterfly has become a symbol of migration as an act of survival, we chose the dandelion to symbolize our journeys. Everyone loves butterflies. The same cannot be said of dandelions, which, regardless of their beneficial properties, are considered weeds. Too often, immigrants are also seen in a negative light. Luckily, dandelion seeds are strong and adaptable. We’ve all seen them ground and bloom in the most unlikely places. Like the dandelion seed, with the odds stacked against us, we immigrants do our best to make new lives and continue existing wherever we land.”
